El Tequila Privado

What kind of tequila do those who “know” drink in Mexico?

For generations, the answer has only been known to a select group of Mexico’s most respected families and Los Bajos’ finest jimadors. These fortunate few had the privilege of tasting El Tequila Privado, a private recipe from a little distillery in Amatitán.

For several generations, a local Amatitán artisan and distilling family passionately produced this spirit old codes and customs – “Los Códigos” – to make our award winning and ultra-premium sipping tequilas.

For the first time, inspired by the original recipe and method.

TEQUILA PERFECTED OVER GENERATIONS

In Amatitán, every drop of Código 1530’s offerings – Blanco, Rosa, Reposado, Añejo, and Origen – have been perfected over generations. Our process embraces time-honored customs without veering from the traditions of the Los Bajos region, its tequileros, and its jimadors.

Our tequila begins with fully-matured agave, which is cooked in stainless steel ovens, fermented with yeast, and distilled twice in handmade stills.

Our Blanco is perfected over a 15-day process while our rested tequilas are meticulously aged in French White Oak red wine barrels from the Napa Valley.

OUR HERITAGE

Código 1530 proudly bears the Jerusalem Cross as its logo and the symbol of its heritage. This iconic cross is part of the Jalisco Coat of Arms, which dates to 1530.

Our name honors “Los Códigos,” the old-world codes and customs that shaped and still live on in Amatitán and the Los Bajos region. These values are at the core of the proud families who served this tequila in their homes, and the artisan distilling family that has been the custodian of this private tequila for generations.

Código 1530 uses only the highest-quality inputs and age-old secret family processes.

Our Production Process

Our Production Process

We hand-select the best, fully-matured agave to ensure that our agave’s Brix level (sugar content) meets our standards and produces a better-tasting, smoother tequila. We make each batch, without any added sweeteners or colors.

Each drop of Amatitán water we use is from freshwater pools and rainwater, all filtered through the volcanic soil of Los Bajos.

Our proprietary chopper allows us to extract only the best juice and pulp from the first press of ripe agave, to garner the purest flavor.

We use local yeast to facilitate the fermentation process.

While most tequila is aged in American whiskey barrels, ours is aged in Napa Valley Cabernet French White Oak wine barrels. This difference allows us to embrace the clean elegance of winemaking and produce a uniquely delicate finish.
